Do you love traveling but hate unpacking? We are so on the same page. I thought I’d share a few post trip travel tips. Say that 3 times in a row…lol
I traveled last week on press trip and loved every minute of it. I got to visit a state I’d never visited before and explore the food, the culture and make several fabulous new friends along the way. If you get the chance you should definitely visit Maine in the Fall. It’s a beautiful state with fabulous food!
I flew to Maine on Thursday and flew back home early Saturday morning after a 3:30am wakeup call. Needless to say, I spent most of Saturday catching up on my sleep because I am so NOT an early morning person (lol). I only managed to unpack my carry-on tote-bag when I got home. You’re probably wondering why (lol). I hate unpacking. Is there an unpacking service? Hmmmm…
Even though I dislike unpacking, there’s one thing that I do each and every time I unpack that helps me tremendously when it’s time to pack for the next trip.
Here is my go to unpacking tip:
- As you unpack your toiletries and personal products, take inventory of what needs to be replaced or what’s running low. Replace those items as soon as you can. Once purchased, go ahead and re-pack them in your travel toiletry bag. This eliminates those last-minute shopping trips to buy needed items the night before your trip (lol). It also eliminates the frustration of not having a much needed item when your arrive at your destination.
A few more tips I generally follow for pre-packing:
- When doing your normal household shopping buy extras of your favorite trial size/travel toiletries (i.e. toothpaste, mouthwash, deodorants) to have on hand when it’s time to restock.
- Buy a few of those fab mini containers and make your own travel size of your favorite products. Big box retailers like Walmart and Target carry cute ones with fun colors and prints starting at a $1 a container. I use these for products that will never come in a trial size. Products like my favorite hair oil/gel, perfumed body washes or my medicated face wash (for my rosacea).
I hope these tips help a little. Remember prepared travelers are happy travelers.
What’s your go to unpacking tip?
Be Happy. Be Fabulous. Be Well Traveled.
