The Brinks Pre-paid MasterCard Is the Best Way to Travel!
No one likes to travel with tons of cash anymore. We also don’t want to go into massive debt by using our credit cards for everything while traveling. I love using a pre-paid MasterCard for shopping, food and other expenses while traveling.
Here are my top reasons why we should travel with a pre-paid debit card:
- Protects your personal finances & financial identity! My number one all-time favorite reason to travel with a pre-paid card is that it is not connected to my social security number or personal bank accounts. If you use your bank account debit card while traveling and the number is stolen, you could potentially lose your entire account balance. If your pre-paid is stolen they can only wipe out that amount. Losing any money to cyber theft is not cool but I don’t want my entire account balance vulnerable.
- Purchase Protection. Pre-paid cards also offer the same protection as credit cards, which adds another level of security and peace of mind. So if there is an unauthorized transaction, I can rest assured my money will be replaced and it won’t risk or impact your financial identity.
- Stress-free! It’s just like a credit card and very easy to use. Pre-paid cards are accepted everywhere you see the MasterCard logo. This includes international travel.
My favorite pre-paid card right now (lol) is the Brinks Pre-paid MasterCard. It’s free to obtain and transactions fees are minimal. PIN authorized transactions are $2 per transaction and credit transactions are $1 each. ATM withdrawals are only $2.50 each.
The Brinks Prepaid MasterCard also offers unique benefits for cardholders. Here are a few of my favorites…
- Purchase cushion protection! If you’re a little short you’re covered with a $10 purchase cushion. **
- Easily add money. I love that you can add money from your bank account or from your PayPal account. Yes PayPal! How cool is that?! (lol) You can also add money at local retailers like 7-Eleven.
- Savings account. You can open an optional savings account with a 5.00% APY. It’s another easy way to save money. Think of it as your other travel fund. #Winning
- Transfer feature! Need to transfer a few dollars to a friend or family member? No worries! You can easily transfer money to other card holders thru the app.
- Refer a friend bonus! Free money (lol). That’s right if you refer a friend and they get a card and load $40, you receive a $20 referral bonus.
I firmly believe that using a pre-paid card for travel expenses is the safest and best way to travel in this crazy cyber world we live in. Try it for yourself, click here to order your own Brinks Prepaid MasterCard.*

I LOVE traveling with a pre-paid card, it makes life so much easier. I don’t have to notify my bank that I’m on travel and don’t have to worry about someone stealing my bank card info.

This makes a lot of sense, I always worry about traveling with cash, in case it gets lost/stolen. I love that the savings option has a 5% APY which is unheard of right now. I guess I need to get one for our next trip!

I agree with you! Cash is not replaceable but at least with this protection it can be replaced. My came within 7 days. 🙂

This is so super helpful for taking a trip. I will not have to worry about taking cash and keeping my belongings close to me. I think that this will make traveling life so much easier and more fun!

It will make travel budgeting a lot easier. I use it so I won’t have to use the card associated with my main account which I use for bills.

This is such a great idea! Something I’ve never even considered. I can see how traveling with a prePaid card can eliminate so many of the risks of traveling thefts. Thanks so much for this post. This is definitely something I will consider for my next trip!

This is a good idea. I’ve never had my account compromised while home. I would do this for international travel for sure.

I never thought about getting a prepaid card for travel. That sounds like a great option and a way to make sure you don’t over spend.

Thanks for this! I’m headed overseas and will definitely consider this as an option!

I don’t think I have used a prepaid Master Card, I was worried about the protection but I’m glad to see that you have some coverage if anything goes wrong. I wonder can this work if this card can work when renting a room or rental car, they require you to have a credit card for incidentals.

I have one of these cards through Netspend I use it for my online purchases.

That actually sounds like a prety smart way to travel. I’m always afraid that I’m gonna misplace my card while traveling and get stuck somewhere. I think it makes sense. If you already can estimate how often you’d use your card for credit transactions or withdrawals, you can pre-estimate your fees ahead of your trip.

Me too! You’re right, if we can estimate/guesstimate (lol) how often we’ll use it, this is the best card for traveling!

that 5%APY and the option to transfer money is great! I have a kid in college, and that is a great way to send him money…
