Fab Products to Pack for Fabulous Skin!

We’re late (lol) May was skin cancer awareness month.  The reality is that we shouldn’t just focus on protecting our skin one month out of the year.  We should protect our skin from the damaging rays of the sun every single day.  It doesn’t matter whether you’re on vacation or going to work, sunscreen should be included in your daily skincare routine.  Here are a few of my favorite products to pack to keep your skin fabulous.

  • The higher the SPF the better! Sunscreens with a high SPF (30+) have been proven to best protect from the damaging UVA/UVB rays of the sun.   In a test conducted last year on the ‘Today show,’ Walmart’s ‘Sport Sunscreen lotion’ with broad spectrum SPF 50 was one of the most effective at blocking sun rays.  I love its lightweight creamy texture and the large tube costs $5 bucks!  It’s water resistant too.
  • Daily facial moisturizer with SPF.  Sometimes we forget that our face also needs love and protection from the sun.  I like a lightweight lotion for my face that’s easy to apply.  Sunscreens for the body are usually too thick or greasy for your face.   My favorite is Ambi’s ‘Even & Clear Daily Moisturizer.’  It’s super lightweight, goes on easily and delivers SPF30 broad spectrum protection.   **Remember to put your sunscreen on 30 minutes before going out into the sun. *
  • Quick skin calming lotion.  Sunburns are a part of life especially when you’re vacationing on the beach or  relaxing poolside.  Sunburns can be painful.  Hawaiian Tropic makes a wonderful calming lotion that helps to quickly soothe the skin after sunburns.  It’s called ‘silk hyrdration.’  This after sun lotion hydrates your skin with unique calming moisture ribbons that contain aloe.
  • Fab pair of sunnies! Sunglasses are definitely a style statement and an element of cool.  A good pair of sunglasses also protects your eyes and the skin around them from sunburn and skin cancer.  Whether you spend $5, $20 or $200, just make sure they provide 100% protection from both UVA/UVB rays.  (We’ll share our favorite places to buy fab sunglasses in another post.)

If you’re on the beach vacationing, or sightseeing always take a plush hand towel with you to wipe away the perspiration/sweat so you stay fabulous.  For more skin cancer prevention tips visit www.skincancer.org.
